How far it is: two answers
The resort's own line is "30 minutes north of Winnipeg on Highway 59". Wikipedia gives about 70 km and an hour from Winnipeg. Both can be true, depending on where in the city you start and what Friday traffic is doing, and I have no third source to settle it. If you are leaving from downtown, I would allow the longer figure.
- From the airport
Winnipeg's airport is Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International (YWG). The way on is by car, through or around the city to Highway 59 north. Route from YWG
- From the train
VIA Rail lists its Winnipeg train station at 123 Main Street, in the building known as Union Station. From there it is the same drive north. Route from Union Station
- From downtown
The Forks is the easiest downtown landmark to give a map as a starting point. Route from The Forks
- From Selkirk
Already in Selkirk, or coming through it? The route below starts there. Route from Selkirk
- From the beaches
Coming back south after a day on the sand: from Grand Beach or from Patricia Beach. Both run down Highway 59.
Public transport, taxis, coaches
I could not find a scheduled public bus or train that serves the resort; Google Maps offers no transit route to it from Winnipeg. What does exist is the resort's list of coach operators who run day tours and overnight tours, from Winnipeg, rural Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Kenora. Their names are on the groups page, and the resort's tour bus coordinator is on 1-204-766-3112.
A taxi or a ride-hailing car from Winnipeg is possible in principle, but I found no published fare or service area that covers Scanterbury, so I am not going to suggest a price. If you need it, ask the desk to check before you rely on it, especially for the return trip.
Parking
The resort's pages say nothing about guest parking, fees or overnight rules. I am not going to assume. If you are bringing a trailer, a boat or a coach, ask in advance.

Every provincial park, including Grand Beach and Patricia Beach, needs a park vehicle permit on the windshield. In 2026 a daily permit costs $9.50, a three-day casual permit $16.50 and an annual permit $44.50, all including GST, bought online at Manitoba's e-licensing site and printed at home. Some weekends are free; they are listed on the lake country page.
