PIPEDA, in plain words

Privacy

We collect what you write on the postcard, use it to answer your request, and keep it no longer than we need to. The details follow, in the terms Canada's private-sector privacy law, PIPEDA, expects.

The law we follow

This site handles personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, which applies to commercial activity in Manitoba. Questions about privacy go to hello@lakewinnipeggetaway.com; that address reaches the person responsible for personal information here.

What we use it for

Only to answer your request: checking dates and rates with the resort's reservations team or a booking partner, writing back, and, if you decide to go ahead, passing the details needed for the reservation to whoever makes it. No marketing, no newsletter, no sale of data to anyone.

Who sees it

How long we keep it

Requests are kept while we deal with them and with any stay that follows, then for our records, and are deleted no later than 24 months after your last message.

Cookies, analytics, maps

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The only third-party content is Google Maps. On the getting here page a Google map is embedded and loads as you scroll to it; on the first page the map loads only if you press the button. When a Google map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own privacy policy. The "Open in Google Maps" and "Directions" links take you to Google's site.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a correction, withdraw consent, or ask for deletion, by writing to hello@lakewinnipeggetaway.com. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

The site runs only over HTTPS, so the postcard travels encrypted. Access to stored requests is limited to the desk. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner, as PIPEDA requires.
