Pool rules, menus, beaches, ages

South Beach with children

A casino hotel is not the obvious family choice, but the parts of South Beach that families use are separate from the gaming floor: the hotel, the pool, the arcade, the restaurant. Here is what the resort says about ages, and what the province says about the beaches.

From the resort's hotel, Mango's and Palms pages and the Manitoba statutes, read 31 October 2026.

Beach safety, from the province

Manitoba Parks says Grand Beach has no lifeguards. In 2026 the province ran Beach Safety Officers at Grand Beach (West Beach) from 4 June to 7 September, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., for public education, emergency response and first aid, while reminding parents that supervising children is still their job. Swimming is allowed within the marked area of the east and west beaches; wading or swimming in the channel between them is prohibited because of dangerous currents, and there is a footbridge. The province also warns against inflatables on the lake, where a sudden wind can carry them far from shore.

Grand Beach (West Beach) is on the province's list of mobility-friendly beaches, with mats over the sand usually installed before the Canada Day weekend. They help with strollers and wagons as well as wheelchairs.

Which room for a family

A Deluxe Queen for small children, the Junior Suite for older ones or for two parents who want a door to close. Full comparisons are on the rooms page.

Things I could not find: cribs or cots, babysitting, a children's club, high chairs. None are mentioned on the resort's pages. Ask on the postcard and the desk will check.
