The conditions, in plain words
- Membership
Every package requires the resort's Ocean Club card. The resort says it is free to join. It is the casino's membership card, and the packages page will not let you book without it.
- Vouchers
One food voucher per day, good at Mango's, the Blue Dolphin, The Palms Buffet and the café, but not for room service, and not exchangeable for cash.
- Booking
By phone at 1-877-775-8259, according to the resort. Online promotions cannot be combined with other offers, and everything is subject to change without notice.
The courses the resort points to
The resort's nearby-attractions page describes three courses in some detail. These are its descriptions, condensed; I have not walked any of them.
Lac du Bonnet area
Granite Hills Golf Course
About 20 minutes from Lac du Bonnet, on the Canadian Shield along Lake Lac du Bonnet. Eighteen holes, four sets of tees from 7,082 yards at the back to 5,428 at the front, 35 sand bunkers and five lakeside fairways.
Highway 59
Grand Pines Golf Course
One hour north of Winnipeg on Highway 59, bordering Belair Provincial Forest, a few minutes from Grand Beach and Victoria Beach. A 6,664-yard course on a 240-acre site with a spring-fed reservoir.
Winnipeg River
Pinawa Golf & Country Club
Along the Winnipeg River and the Pinawa Channel in boreal forest, 6,270 yards over shield rock. Not part of a resort package, but on the resort's list of nearby courses.
Mars Sandhills
The third package names Mars Sandhills, a course the resort's nearby-attractions page does not describe. I found nothing on the resort's site about its location or length, so I leave it there. The desk can confirm the tee-time arrangements for any of the three when it prices a package for you.
How I would use a golf package
Grand Pines is the obvious pairing with a beach day, because it sits on the same highway near the Grand Beach turn-off: a round in the morning, the beach after lunch, the pool before supper, and the 1 p.m. late check-out the next day. Granite Hills is a different direction, east toward Lac du Bonnet, and makes more sense as its own trip.
Prices for the golf packages were not published when I checked. Our desk can ask for them; tick "Golf trip" on the postcard.
