Notes for a family night
- Before you go
Pack your own snacks for the mini-fridge. Mango's has a menu for children 12 and under, but the restaurant closes at 9 p.m. and the café in the lobby is the only food later on.
- After the beach
Two queens means the sand gets shared between two beds instead of one. Shake out the towels in the car park. I say this with feeling, not from a stay here.
- Evening
The pool is open to families until 10 p.m. Children under 12 must have an adult with them, and there is no lifeguard.
- Morning
Breakfast at Mango's runs from 8 to 11 a.m. on weekdays. On Saturdays and Sundays the breakfast buffet at The Palms runs from 8 to 11:30 a.m. instead.
How it compares
The Deluxe King is the same room with one king bed instead of two queens. The Junior Suite, at 752 sq ft, gives a family two queens in a bedroom and a sofa bed in a separate parlour, at a higher starting rate. If two adults and two older children are sharing, the extra door is worth asking about.
What the Deluxe Queen does not have, according to the room description, is the Keurig, bathrobes and bottled water that come with the Luxury King and the suites. For a beach family, I doubt anyone will miss the bathrobes.
